Gentle Stream
Counselling & Therapy

Counselling First is a private practice where we provide a safe therapeutic space for individuals.
Seeking help from a therapist leads to a greater sense of personal awareness and contentment. Therapy is a wonderful way to explore our patterns and behaviours, heal life’s traumas and work on our personal growth. Whether you are dealing with past trauma, a life transition or depression, for example, my role is to open the space for change in a nurturing way and help you to find strategies to help deal with symptoms of Trauma such as; PTSD, CPTSD, low mood, depression and anxiety so, everyday life can become more manageable and enjoyable.
As Counsellors, Therapists and Mentors, my team and I work within the framework of current psychological theories and models. Attention is given (if necessary) to where trauma or wounding has occurred in a safe and steady way. I

we also help clients connect with their goals and aspirations for the future through our Life Coaching and Hypnotherapy Services.

HOW IT WORKS

 Initial Assessment

No Initial Assessment is required for Hypnotherapy or Life Coaching, just go ahead and book an appointment with Hypnotherapist James Inglis or Life Coach, Philip James.

For Counselling, Our first session which will last for 50-60 minutes is the Initial Assessment. It gives us a chance to meet for you to see the place where I work.  You will start developing a sense of whether you feel comfortable about us working together in the future and we will decide together how many sessions you require. I make no charge for the initial assessment.

For EFT sessions I offer a 30 Minute consultation Free of Charge.
I'll offer you a drink and invite you to tell me a bit about why you've come and what you would like from me. You'll have the opportunity to tell me as much or as little about yourself as you wish in this first session, and will be encouraged to speak as openly and freely as you feel comfortable doing. This is time for you.
By the end of the first session I'll know a bit about your reasons for coming, and you'll have a sense of who I am and how I work, as well as how I can help you whether it's for short term or long term work.

Should you wish to proceed, you will be offer further sessions which can be taken weekly or fortnightly, whichever suits you best.

You will also receive a counselling contract, outlining our agreement. You will be asked to sign and return one copy and you will be provided with a copy for you to keep for your reference.
